            Hello Cornell!

You can achieve the CCNA Routing and Switching certification by two different paths.

            1) you can pass two exams, ICND1 (100-105) and ICND2 (200-105). Usually people do first ICND1 and than ICND2.

            2) You can pass one exam, usually referred and CCNA Composite, CCNA (200-125).

The exams topics of ICND1 + ICDN2 are the same as those from CCNA.

When you pass ICND1 (100-105), you will become CCENT certified, the entry certification level for Cisco Certifications. CCENT is prerequisite for some cisco certifications. Take a look here. If you pass CCNA (200-125) you will become CCNA certified.

            Regards,

            Augusto

                Hi guys,

I still have a Question about the 2 exam VS the composite

My understanding is: I may choose to take 2 exam ( 100-105 and 200-105) over the years like one un Dec the other March next years, to get my CCNA.

                OR

directly go for 200-125 one shot and That it?!

My goal is to get the CCNA anyway..but lack of time for studying.. doing 2 exam, spread on time look more do able for me.  But the topic to study are exactly  the same or bit different??.. I already have ICDN1 and 2 book up to date.

                thanks

                  Hi Jean-Phillipe,

Yes, you need to know the same things for both approaches (2 exams or 1 exam). Taking the 2 exam approach just splits it up and is generally easier for the first time through.

                    Hi Jean-Philippe,

Yes, correct. As mentioned by other members above, candidates have two different options that lead to the CCNA R&S certification:

Option 1: 200-125 CCNA Composite (single exam)

                    OR

                    Option 2: 100-105 ICND1 + 200-105 ICND2 (two exams)

With the single exam option, you get combined topics (ICND1+ICND2) so some candidates might find it more difficult without experience. However, the two exam option is generally more popular among beginners. The important thing is to make sure you know the exam topics really well before taking the exam(s).

Also, taking the two exam option will certify you in two certifications, CCENT (ICND1) and CCNA R&S (ICND1+ICND2). The composite single exam will only certify you in CCNA R&S.

                    Good luck!

                    Cheers,

I had the same questions, and my decision was to take in two parts instead of composite. Why the costs of one or the other are almost the same. Give or take a few bucks!

It depends on a lot of the reasons and your experience. When I decided to take the CCNA exam, it started as a goal of simply having the CISCO certification. Although I had been working so many years in Networking, as I was covering the subjects I found out there was a lot of interesting factors and details I did not know and found in fact fascinating. So I made the decision to complete the certification for the main reason of completely mastering the subjects and not just memorizing. With this in mind, I find the 2 tests will let you focus more in-depth for these (my) reasons.  I hope this helps and good luck!

Should'nt be the challenge of my life, but I what to make it right. Im an old Network technician. Im Alcatel NRs2 (CCNP)..yes I know!!:).Transformation of the compagny I working for requires...But I have to start at the bottom.

I want to get better in IP phone and Security so the logic turn is to get certified with cisco and start at the bottom . And Have to admit  most of compagnies used CISCO.

                                                   or

I have a related question.  If you take the composite, is it possible to to get a CCENT if you only pass that portion of the exam?  Or is it all or nothing both certs?

                              Hi Leo,

Passing the 200-125 CCNA Composite exam will only certify you in CCNA R&S but not in CCENT. The only way to obtain the CCENT certification is by passing the current ICND1 exam. For more information about the requirements, please visit IP Networking (CCENT)

                              Cheers,
